Our JOU Firearms Training team are looking for a Command Co-ordinator and Lead Trainer to join them. In this role, you will develop, deliver, and coordinate training programs for police officers in both Initial and Cadre Tactical Firearms Command roles in accordance with national standards and best practices.
About the role
It will be your responsibility to ensure effective operational co-ordination, review and evaluation of Tactical Firearms Commanders and their deployments across both Thames Valley and Hampshire, including the mentoring/accreditation process, duties and debrief/feedback.
You will lead and deliver the mandatory refresher training of Strategic, Tactical and Operational Firearms Commanders and Firearms Tactical Advisors, ensuring reaccreditation and operational competency sign off of all roles as per Firearms Authorised Professional Practice and the College of Policing Firearms Training Licence.
Your role on any day may include:
1. Delivery and compliance of National Firearms Command training as part of the College of Policing Firearms Training Licence and Authorised Professional Practice Armed Policing.
2. Being responsible for the bi-annual delivery of all mandatory Firearms Command refresher training for Strategic, Tactical and Operational Firearms Commanders and Firearms Tactical advisors, as required by the College firearms training licence.
3. Maintaining an effective and accurate audit of the delivery of all firearms command training in order to evidence compliance against officer’s role profiles to support operational competency and deployment and to meet the requirements of the code of practice, College of Policing Licence and Authorised Professional Practice Armed Policing.
4. Designing, implementing and delivering the firearms command training plan in line with the requirements of CFI’s overall training plan.
5. Maintaining occupational competence as an Initial Tactical Firearms Commander and Cadre Tactical Firearms Commander through a shadowing process as detailed in PSQMS profile.

About You
Do you have Minimum level 3 AET teaching qualification and are you educated to QCF Level 6, or do you have work experience that could be considered comparable to this level?
Are you a current occupationally competent Cadre Tactical Firearms Commander?
Do you have knowledge and understanding of the National Police Firearms Training Curriculum command modules C2.1, C2.2, C3 and F2?
Do you have an in-depth understanding of APP – Armed Policing and the legal framework governing use of force?
Do you have excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills?
Are you a strong decision-maker and have leadership qualities under pressure?
Are you able to design and deliver scenario-based command exercises?
Are you committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and public service?
