SI Technical Developer (Secondment/Fixed Term Contract)
Secondment/Fixed Term Contract for 2 Years
Would you like to help protect domestic abuse victims from further harm and highlight patterns of offending behaviour that result in criminals being taken off the streets? Would you like to finish work every day knowing you had helped to make the Thames Valley region a safer place?
You can do this if you join our small team with responsibility for providing critical management information to police leaders that will directly influence both their strategic and tactical decision making.
It is an exciting time to join the team as The Force embarks on an ambitious data transformation programme, moving away from legacy reporting software towards a modern, centralised data lake. You’ll get a chance to contribute to the development of our new reporting capabilities and help enhance how data is accessed and used across the organisation.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Experience of development in Power BI;
- An ability to quickly learn bespoke software and systems;
- Good communication skills;
- An ability to plan and prioritise your workload and
- A flair for problem solving.
Knowledge of a range of areas of policing and experience developing in Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate is desirable but not essential.
The role is primarily remote, and we offer a highly flexible working arrangement with minimal travel expectations, making this a great opportunity regardless of whether you're based in the immediate area.
If you are a permanent member of staff applying for this role, please note it will be offered on a secondment basis. Important: All secondments are assumed supported and that your line manager and Head of Department/Commander or Deputy are aware of your intention to apply. If the secondment is not supported then a strong business rationale must be sent to RecruitmentPoliceStaff@thamesvalley.police.uk quoting the reference number for the role.
Please note: Shift allowance, on-call or other job related allowances from the previous role will not be protected unless they are attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.
As part of the Thames Valley Police family you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including 24 days annual leave per annum, pro-rata for part time (plus Bank Holidays), flexible working conditions, a wide range of lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities and have the option to join a local government pension scheme. For more information on our benefits, please visit the supporting you page, via the link at the bottom of the advert.
