Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a key part of the UK’s national counter terrorism network. We are a five-force collaboration, working together with partners to protect the public and prevent terrorist threats.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Finance Assistant to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a career in Finance and gain the AAT level 5 qualification. 

You will be part of a small Finance Team within a larger Business Support Services Department.

Reporting to the Strategic Management Accountant, you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of robust financial management to support operational decision making, by providing accurate and timely financial management information and monitoring and maintaining financial systems.

Whilst your main duties and responsibilities are outlined in the Job Description, key Responsibilities will be to:

- Assist the Management Accountant in the development, implementation and maintenance of financial management, reporting and control systems, services, processes and standards.

- Assist in training managers and their staff on financial issues including the correct operation of financial systems, processes and procedures.

- Assist in the preparation of revenue and capital budgets and forecasts.

- Prepare, calculate and input journals to the financial systems. Complete month end/year end accounting closedown, ensuring process completed timely and accurately. 

- Assist in the preparation of monthly and other reports and returns required.

- Analyse overtime and project costings and prepare detailed reports for the leadership team. 

- Liaise with other forces and suppliers to ensure timely information received 

- Reconcile invoices with advised charges and ensure all charges are correctly accounted for in the financial systems.

You will:

- Be highly numerate with high levels of accuracy.
- Have knowledge of financial computer applications.
- Be able to produce accurate and concise written work
- Have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight timescales and deadlines
- Have or are willing to study for appropriate qualification e.g. AAT.

This is a hybrid role that will be based in Manchester, with a requirement to work from the office at least 3 days per week.
