This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking and passionate ED&I Advisor to join our team to deliver a range of initiatives that improve organisational culture, embed the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Culture and Inclusion Framework, and progress Wiltshire Police’s ED&I objectives.
About the Role
As an ED&I Advisor, you’ll act as a vital bridge between the ED&I team, HR, departments across Wiltshire Police, and key external partners. You’ll support the delivery of local and national equality, diversity, inclusion and culture initiatives, ensuring our people, practices, and partnerships reflect our ambition to be a truly inclusive, fair and trusted police force.
You’ll also work proactively across the organisation to develop inclusive practices, build cultural competence, and help the organisation listen to and act on lived experience.
What you will be doing
- Support the implementation of Wiltshire Police’s Equality Objectives and Culture, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, helping the force to build a values-driven culture
- Track and report on cultural and ED&I themes arising through feedback, staff surveys and support networks
- Deliver EDI and culture related projects, aligned to organisational priorities and national standards
- Support internal and external scrutiny, including independent advisory groups and panels, ensuring transparency on EDI and cultural performance
- Lead on submissions for national accreditations supporting Wiltshire Police’s external reputation as an inclusive employer
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to design and deliver internal engagement plans linked to cultural events, religious observances and national inclusion campaigns
- Develop and deliver internal awareness sessions on cultural competence, inclusive leadership, allyship, positive action, microaggressions and lived experience storytelling
- Represent Wiltshire Police at partnership forums and EDI-related external events, building trust with underrepresented communities
- Ensure the calendar of ED&I events go beyond awareness-raising, by linking them to action, education, allyship, and operational relevance
About you and your experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of workforce EDI, culture change, and equality legislation
- Proven ability to build partnerships with underrepresented groups and community stakeholders
- Experience in delivering cultural or behavioural change initiatives
- Good understanding of the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and its application in a policing or public service context
- Knowledge of employment law related to protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010
- Confident communicator and facilitator, with excellent verbal and written skills
- Understanding of the link between EDI, culture, and performance
