The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesFrom your first day with us you will be part of the Surrey & Sussex Learning and Professional Development policing family, & making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, predominantly based at Guildford HQ. However, delivering training may take place in other locations across Surrey and Sussex.
The role will be to research, prepare, develop, deliver and maintain training and continuous CPD for PIP 2 staff and officers. Additionally, to deliver training to new recruits and staff employees within Surrey and Sussex Police as required. This will be in line with College of Policing guidelines.
You will be supervising and developing students in a classroom setting alongside blended learning and virtual delivery.
Furthermore, the role will be:
- To support and manage learning and assessment activities, ensuring the progress of students through each programme, whilst liaising with internal & external partners and other key stakeholders to support students in achieving their academic goals.
- To be responsible for the well-being of your students whilst in the learning environment, and where necessary provide support and guidance.
- To complete associated administrative/clerical duties in line with the learning programmes.
- To continually maintain and update lesson plans for all training deliveries within the delivery portfolio.
- To also maintain the role of a One-file Assessor within PIP 2 Investigative training programmes.
- To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.
- To produce clear, concise, and accurate records and reports.
- To be fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, with accurate keyboard skills and willing to embrace new technologies to improve delivery of training to employees of Surrey and Sussex Police.
You must be highly motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative under minimal supervision, being flexible with other partners who are linked to the learners' progress.
You will maintain your own CPD and required PIP 2 accreditation for role. This may include operational shifts within the PIP 2 environment, and where divisional support is required.
Skills & ExperienceThe Applicant will possess a Professionalising Investigations Programme Level 2 qualification (PIP 2). Ideally, they will possess a minimum Level 3 training qualification e.g - Education & Training Award or the Training Essentials Programme, as recognised by the College of Policing; or be willing to work towards and achieve this requirement within the first 12 months of appointment.
The applicant will have additional PIP 2 skills, such as: Specialist Witness Interviewing [Tier 3], Specialist Suspect interviewing [Tier 3], Interview Adviser [Tier 5], or any additional Public Protection accreditation.
The applicant will possess the A1 or PSAS assessing qualification, or be willing to work towards this.
The applicant will have access to transport, as training at other locations within Surrey and Sussex is occasionally required. There will also be the occasional necessity to receive training at external venues.
