Tasking Manager

The principal responsibility of the Tasking Manager is to present, record, communicate and assist in the operation of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) Tasking meetings. To identify and highlight significant threat, risk and harm issues to the appropriate Tasking meeting as well as provide quality assurance and a conduit for others to access the Tasking & Coordination process. To be empowered to enforce the delivery of tasks and actions under the authority of the Chairpersons.  Monitor progress and report results back to the relevant Tasking meeting

In particular to:

  • To undertake the role of National Intelligence Model and Tasking Lead by acting as a professional role model for the practical application of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and intelligence led policing.
  • Manage compliance with the functions of the NIM tasking processes supporting the Chairpersons to manage the key NIM meetings, including briefing the chairs and ensuring actions are progressed efficiently and effectively.
  • Act on behalf, and with the authority of, the Tasking Chair to maximise the opportunities of success, ensuring that reactive and proactive resources are kept in balance at all times.
  • Review significant incidents reported in the last 24 hours to assist in the management and directing of related Tasking’s.
  • Maintain an overview and assist in the process management of significant threat, risk and harm related areas of business. Thereby informing the tasking process of any high-risk issues, and providing assurance of appropriate management.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the local, regional and national threat picture from Serious & Organised Crime and other Vulnerability & Exploitation issues. Maintain a current knowledge of Force and national Policing priorities.
  • Ensure compliance and assist with regional tasking processes, including serious and organised crime tasking. Develop a working liaison with regional and neighbouring forces to facilitate efficient cross-border information exchange and joint-tasking of resources.
  • Ensure that the OCG management process is effectively delivered via the tasking process across the Force. Ensure management plans are provided and endorsed.
  • To identify, conduct, review and maintain an overview of risk assessments in the form of management of risk in law enforcement (MoRiLE) scorings in accordance with current internal and regional processes.
  • Accurately record, review and maintain information held on regional systems, particularly Agency and Partner Management Information System (APMIS).
  • To maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills, including the attainment and maintenance of Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) accreditation.

This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post.  In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues.
