Intelligence Analyst - TOEX - 12 month maternity leave cover (SEROCU)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intelligence Analyst to join our Threat and Performance Department in the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).
The role will be within our Tackling Organised Exploitation (TOEX) Team. TOEX is an extremely rewarding team to be a part of, where the vision of the TOEX programme is to enable a whole systems approach to improving the response of UK Law Enforcement to the exploitation of the most vulnerable in society. The department is a unique function within South East Policing, providing intelligence support to operations in Force, SEROCU and across partners. TOEX provide insightful intelligence development which brings pieces of the jigsaw together to create a richer picture, which will better inform decision making at local, regional, and national level. The exploitation landscape today is complex, and needs a sophisticated solution - TOEX delivers a significant part of that solution.
TOEX work on developments involving all types of exploitation of people including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Please note that this role will occasionally expose you to elements of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
The overall purpose of the role is to provide high level analytical support to senior operational police officers to assist in the prevention, targeting, disruption and detection of crime and the safeguarding and protection of those vulnerable to exploitation. As an analyst you will use analytical techniques to create intelligence products that inform relevant strategic and tactical planning to the standard defined within the National Intelligence Model.
You will work with customers in order to develop clear and accurate terms of reference and provide an efficient and effective service to support managerial, operational and investigative decision making. You will have the exciting opportunity to collaborate with the TOEX Data Insights Analyst to exploit new and existing analytical and research to develop operational products and briefings, inferences as well as testing hypotheses and making recommendations. You will also work with the National TOEX network to develop and create innovative technology in order to constantly evolve to keep up with the ever-growing complexity and sophistication of organised crime in exploitation.
To perform your job well, you will need to map out the full intelligence picture clearly and concisely in order for investigative teams to direct their time and resources effectively; ultimately disrupting crime and safeguard the vulnerable. If you have a strong analytical mind set and sharp attention to detail, we would be pleased to receive your application.
For this role you are required to have advanced IT skills (including the use of Excel), proven research skills with the ability to problem solve, and experience producing analytical reports using communications data. Candidates should be confident to work independently, at pace and under pressure in order to support operational needs.
Previous experience in an intelligence background is desirable but not necessary. If you are new to law enforcement and the world of intelligence, we will ensure that you are given a solid grounding in UK policing introducing you to the many systems and tools which we employ to track the activities of organised crime groups. Training will also include IPP (Intelligence Professionalisation Programme) accreditation which must be completed whilst in post if not already obtained elsewhere.
The role is hybrid, with a balance of home and office working. The current requirement for the role is a minimum of 2 days based in the office. Note, there may be occasions where you will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours and office working in line with operational demand and sometimes this may require working away from home. For this reason a full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
You can find more information about security vetting here.
