OPCC Policy and Scrutiny Officer

OPCC Policy and Scrutiny Officer - Communities

We are recruiting! Come and work for us and help to Make Nottinghamshire Safe.

It is an exciting time for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) here in Nottinghamshire as we work to support Commissioner Gary Godden to deliver his Police and Crime Plan for the area that sets the direction of policing, crime and victim services over the next four years.

To help undertake this work, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to lead, develop and co-ordinate the OPCC’s public scrutiny functions.  This includes managing the statutory Independent Custody Visiting Scheme (ICV), the Animal Welfare Scheme (AWS) and our Independent Community Scrutiny Panel (ICSP) responsible for scrutinising police activity and practices on behalf of the OPCC.

You will also support the Policy and Scrutiny Manager in ensuring that findings from public consultation and public scrutiny are used to inform learning, policy development and practice in line with national and local priorities, and objectives of the Police and Crime Plan.

In return, working in the OPCC offers professional satisfaction as well as the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of other people. Through building positive, collaborative relationships internally and externally, with police colleagues, partners and the public of Nottinghamshire, you will contribute to transformation and ensure the delivery of excellent services that provide effective safeguarding, and which are value for money.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and want our workforce to represent the communities we serve.  We encourage and welcome applications from all backgrounds and communities and in particular those that are currently under-represented in our workforce, including but not limited to Black, Asian and Minoritised Ethnic, disabled and LGBTQ+ candidates.

We hope that you are interested in the role. To apply, please provide an up-to-date CV with a written expression of interest of up to 1,000 words addressing how you meet the essential criteria in the person specification. Please ensure any documents you attach during your application do not have your name or any identifiable personal details included within the text or the document name, so that your application can remain anonymous.

If you would like to discuss the position in more detail before applying, please contact Dan Howitt on 07887 618533 or OfficePCC@Notts.police.uk .
