  • Hours – post is part time for 22 hours a week. The successful applicant will work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8am and 5pm on a Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

About the role

Wiltshire Police are seeking a highly motivated and detailed orientated MASH (Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub) Police Researcher to join our team on a part time basis based in Wat Tyler House, Swindon. This is a crucial role in supporting the protection of vulnerable children through timely and accurate information sharing and analysis.

What you’ll be doing

  • Receiving, reviewing, and prioritising all strategy discussion requests, across both hubs.
  • Arranging and managing Police attendance at strategy discussions/LADO/DOFA as per available resources with clear planning and communication.
  • Servicing phone calls into the Police Multi-agency Safeguarding Hub.
  • To prepare an accurate, proportionate, and relevant research product for the Police MASH Decision Makers to utilise in multi-agency strategy discussions.
  • To receive all referrals, both internal and external, to assess each referral to assess if a crime is indicated or action is required.
  • Maintain and use computer databases and inputting data onto the systems from other agencies and recording of crimes at point of report.
  • Provide support/information to partner agencies as per established information sharing agreements to enable them to obtain necessary, relevant, proportionate Police information via established processes for requesting and providing this information.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff working within key Partner agencies including Children’s Social Care, Health and neighbouring forces, in order to identify and exchange good practice and tactics to address significant trends and issues.

About you and your experience

  • Experience in research, intelligence or safeguarding role, preferably within law enforcements, social care or health services.
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislations relevant to children and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Strong IT skills including sound knowledge of Microsoft package.
  • Experience of working in a police service environment or similar e.g. Force Intelligence Unit, HMRC, DHSS Fraud Investigators would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of police intelligence systems such as Niche would be advantageous.

Please note for the successful applicant, there may be some training completed at County Hall in Trowbridge.
