Lancashire Constabulary is looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team! 

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Assist in the preparation of food, servicing of meals with agreed methods and portion control.
  • Assist in stock taking including checking and receipting of deliveries, appropriate labelling and storage of stock.   
  • Ensure that there are sufficient hot and cold food provisions during the service times.
  • Take an active role in promoting the catering facilities including undertaking promotional events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the Kitchen Team Leader in delivering the catering function within the specific catering facility
  • To undertake food preparation duties for all service offerings provided by the catering function, ensuring that food is served fresh and held at temperatures and times to meet food hygiene regulations and is ready for servicing at the allocated meal service times.
  • To ensure that all food served is of a high quality, mindful of portion control, meal content and presentation
  • To always serve and present meals and beverages in a friendly and courteous manner, promoting a warm and friendly atmosphere
  • To undertake temperature monitoring, recording relevant information for mandatory documents
  • To undertake other duties and additional responsibilities which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading as and when required

Skills and Experience: 

  • Food Hygiene and Safety qualification (level 2)
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a busy kitchen environment 
  • Knowledge of current food legislation regarding food hygiene, allergens and health and safety in the workplace   
  • Experience in preparing food to meet quality, nutrition and cost   

Vetting and Medical:

Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV).

Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
