Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

The National Border Targeting Centre (NBTC) is the sole 24/7 Passenger Information Unit (PIU) for the UK. It is responsible for countering the known and unknown threat at the UK border and is designated as one of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure Sites.

The NBTC comprises of officers and staff from Counter Terrorism Policing, UK Border Force, and the National Crime Agency, all of whom have specific responsibilities. Each agency will consider traveller data across all modes, which is evaluated against numerous law enforcement databases, prior to issuing a response based upon their individual guidance.

The role of CT Police within NBTC includes the dissemination of fast time alerts for intervention before or during travel, research within e-Borders data on behalf of investigators and the provision of guidance to Forces and other crime and Partners.

The CT Police Team within the NBTC provide support to major investigations and enquiries through both the intelligence and investigative phases.

Operators within the Police Team work together on small well-established teams on a 24 hours shift pattern. They use a mixture of police and Home Office systems to identify travel of interest to Policing and ensure alerts are sent to relevant stakeholders. Operators receive bespoke training from the NBTC training team to ensure they are competent and confident to complete their role.
