Detective Inspector – Regional Force Cyber Crime Manager and Coordinator (SEROCU)

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Detective Inspector to lead and coordinate the South East Regional Force Cyber Crime Units (FCCU) in SEROCU. This role involves overseeing the Hampshire & Isle of Wight, Surrey & Sussex, and Thames Valley Police FCCUs together with the South East Cyber Protect Network, aiming to ensure effective collaboration and coordination in tackling cybercrime. 

We welcome applications from substantive Detective Inspectors, as well as those who have successfully passed a force promotion board and are awaiting positing as a Detective Inspector. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the regional Cyber Crime Detective Inspector to ensure a cohesive response in the South East. They will provide a pivotal link to our forces to ensure they have an effective response to this growing threat.  

The successful candidate will need to have excellent communications and leadership qualities to manage teams based in different force areas. They will need to have the ability to bring teams and people together, working to a shared vision that enables them to operate as one team. 

Building of the successes of the current post holder the successful candidate will need to drive forward improvements achieved over the last 12 months when the South East have been piloting a model that brings regional leadership of the cyber investigative response in forces. 

As an experienced investigator that will lead the most serious incidents across their command through given policy direction to investigations.  

This advert is for a role that is expected to commence in January 2026. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the South East Cyber on-call rota as part of their role.  

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.  

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC  together with a number of enhanced security checks.  In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
