Job Title: Community Learning Partner, Learning and Development

Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342.  Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: The role will be based at Hendon and New Scotland Yard, with blended approach to agile working across MPS estate and working from home, in accordance with MPS Hybrid Working Policy, The hours of working will be Monday-Friday 0900 – 1730

 

The role holder will matrix manage those responsible for Community Centred Learning, driving and growing the involvement of stakeholders from a diverse range of communities across London who are already providing an active role in helping the Met inform the learning journey for both staff and officers.

The role holder will help set the vision for Community Centred Learning, working to the aspirations for a community first approach, as set out by MOPAC and also the MPS reform plan – A New Met for London. 

The role holder will play a key role in fostering trusted relationships with existing external community stakeholders, and also shaping a strategic approach to identify and work with new stakeholders, so that the MPS can have confidence that officers and staff receive training that is informed and shaped by community voices, meeting the required national standards.

The role holder will need to work across the organisation, building working relationships including that with L&D Partners, including Delivery Services and Business Partners, and Heads of Profession, Heads of specialism – specifically the Culture and Diversity Directorate - and business area leads. The aim being to raise the profile of Community Centred Learning, and its offer to the organisation in the delivery of skills and learning to audiences across the MPS in their areas of responsibility.

The role holder will need to provide strategic advice on how community learning can be woven into the learning design, delivery, and evaluation across the organisation together with managing expectations where training is required. They will also be expected to manage expectations in relation to the realistic and affordable options for the delivery of work or agree that requirements should be escalated for new investment decisions based on MPS priorities and risk.

The role holder will manage a budget, and also oversee the development of a culture portal and its usage across the MPS, with the aim to provide point of need understanding relevant to communities we serve across the capital. This needs to be an innovative solution that requires critical thinking to best meet the needs of the business. The role holder will also have responsibility for the MPS Community Reference Group, acting as co-chair to steer the involvement of a dedicated group of stakeholders with the delivery of learning and development.

Key Result Areas

  • Drive the development of Community Centred Learning, working with the Head of L&D Business Engagement to set the vision for this area of work
  • Work in partnership with L&D Business Partners to position Community Centred Learning as an integral element in the delivery of timely and effective learning for target audiences via learning pathways hosted in LMS, whilst also ensuring compliance with the national policing curriculum & national learning standards frameworks
  • Provide excellent stakeholder engagement to grow and champion Community Centred Learning, including the Community Reference Group, ensuring opportunities for engagement and the shaping of learning and development are identified and exploited
  • Provide the MPS, including their ‘partnered’ Heads of Profession network with clear reporting data to monitor & review uptake and effectiveness of existing and new learning content, with specific reference to the impact and involvement of community stakeholders
  • Oversee and shape the delivery of stakeholder engagement in existing learning opportunities and training days

This will be a full-time role in L&D Business Engagement, Learning Solutions. Postings will take place in line with the next corporate posting schedule once the selection process is complete.

Location and working hours

This role is classed as Support in line with the Met Hybrid Working policy.
