Analyst (CTPSW)

We are looking for an experienced analyst keen to progress their career. You will provide complex, high quality, professional intelligence analysis on a tactical, strategic, operational and evidential basis. You will identify and exploit complex data sources; mitigating threat, harm and risk by providing detailed analysis and recommendations to direct the policing response. We are seeking critical thinkers who are good at assimilating and processing large amounts of information and can apply analytical skills to identify innovative and practical options in support of Police activity.
The role is an office based position. The role could be based at a building that can be reached by public transport or car in under 45 minutes from central Bristol or Taunton, or based in Exeter depending on departmental requirements.
All analysts are expected to progress into the PO2-5 Higher Analyst role (£40,893-£43,920) via an assessed competency scheme. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Certification.
In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Intelligence Analysis using structured analytical techniques.
- Production of high quality verbal and written intelligence analysis products which inform decision making.
- Identify, obtain, evaluate and exploit complex data sources for analysis in accordance with legislation.
- Consult on analytical practice and procedure; engaging with key senior stakeholders and providing specialist advice to partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships across the whole analytical profession including the national network and external partner agencies in order to contribute to sharing knowledge and best practice through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events.
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
- Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience of intelligence analysis processes and/or intelligence led approaches.
- Experience working in an advisory/consultancy capacity and able to demonstrate professional credibility with colleagues and stakeholder.
- Excellent IT skills including all common Microsoft packages including Excel and the use of specific analytical software programmes.
- Proven experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis including statistical analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - including verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to act on own initiative; to own and manage issues with minimal supervision.
- Hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force / region area using alternative transport.
Appointments to this posts are subject to security clearance to Police Management and National Security vetting – Security Clearance Level (SC). The post holder will be required to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) once in post.
