Job Title: National Police Chiefs' Council - Police Pensions Advisor

Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Remote working nationally within UK. NPCC is currently based in close proximity to St James Park underground station, London and therefore occasional travel will be required to this premise and other Police locations across the UK. Contract – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance).

 

THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)

NPCC PENSIONS TEAM

The NPCC Pensions Team lead on the co-ordination of Police Pensions across the Police Service, through working with the constituent parts: Home Office, pension scheme administrators, Forces and national Pensions bodies. Representing the NPCC and Scheme Managers on Police Pensions issues identifying key strategic issues, shaping national policy development.  To be part of this team is to be a vital element in the legislative and administrative framework of Police Pensions.

THE ROLE

The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:

  • Expert knowledge of the Public Sector Pension Schemes’ Regulations, related compensation regulations, associated overriding legislation and guidance from regulatory bodies
  • Ability to understand and interpret a wide range of complex legislation.
  • Ability to use the full range of the MS office suite to a high standard
  • Experience of preparing detailed, comprehensible reports and guidance on complex pension and compensation matters to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills, with ability to collect and integrate many sources of information in order to identify and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Experience of managing relationships and dealing effectively with internal and external customers, advising senior officers on a range of issues in a complex and political environment.

VETTING

Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo RV & CTC level before taking up the post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.

The Metropolitan Police manage HR for NPCC recruitment.
