Job Title: Ethical Hacker/Data Scientist

Salary: The starting salary is £53,459, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £50,531 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £55,103 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Vauxhall

 

Successful Ethical Hackers and Data Scientist will be those that have a genuine interest in technology, understands or makes an effort to understand how the technology at their disposal works, enjoys learning about new and improved technical assets and is keen to learn new skills and shows a willingness to take on a technical challenge. The role holder will be offered opportunities to undertake on going specialist development and participate in long term investigations and projects.

Data scientist/analyst – The results of securing databases from services is that there will be datasets larger than most officers encounter in normal investigation. A data scientist/analyst is therefore required to be able to interpret this data, and find ways of presenting this data to officers.  Preferred skills include:

  • Database manipulation – preferably SQL, as most criminal database run on MySQL
  • Scripting knowledge – required for bulk processing of this data (e.g. python)
  • Knowledge of policing techniques or easy access to officers to ensure they know what data to find and extract
  • Work with reporting tools (e.g. Elastic, Sharepoint) to distribute data with OICs
  • Developer to find novel techniques to conduct bulk-attributions using MPS resources that are not designed for bulk attributions (e.g. bulk Optica requests or bulk cryptocurrency track and trace)
