Commercial and Procurement Lead - Police Staff

The Force’s recently established Procurement Team has an exciting vacancy in a key role in the service. The position would be well suited to a motivated and capable professional looking to take the next step in their career.

The Commercial Lead takes the procurement lead on a range of diverse strategic projects, offering both variety and challenge. The role will primarily focus on tendering a wide range of contracts, some of which will be complex in nature, with a need to draw upon experience and apply commercial acumen.

Having strong working relationships with colleagues and agreeing mutually acceptable procurement and contracting solutions will be pivotal success factors. The service is to be seen as an enabler in meeting the Force’s needs.

We are looking for someone who is capable of working autonomously, as well as part of a team. The role requires you to take a meticulous approach to the authoring of procurement documentation, whilst giving due consideration to the Public Contract Regulations and the recently introduced Procurement Act 2023.

Experience in successfully undertaking strategic Information Technology procurements would be desirable.

The role is available on a full-time basis of 37 hours a week. However, for the right candidate, we could also offer part-time hours of a minimum 30 hours a week, if preferred.

We are looking for someone who possesses a relevant procurement qualification, such as MCIPS, recent experience of working under the constraints of public procurement law and line management responsibilities will be an advantage. However, a development opportunity (initially on a grade M2 from £48,894 per annum) would be considered if you are nearly qualified in procurement law/tendering and or require some further development in these specific areas.

If you want to make a real difference to the community and share our passion for commercial excellence and are willing to be challenged and stretched, then this role could be for you!
