Working across the Force Contact Centre your role will include ensuring that all 999/101 emergency/non-emergency calls are answered promptly and professionally.

You will be working with our Response, Neighbourhood Policing and Investigation teams as part of the dispatch function utilising radio and technology systems deploying officers to incidents and dealing with specialist teams to ensure public safety and response to emergency and non-emergency incidents.

You will be the first point of contact with the police. You will be a calm, reassuring voice in someone’s hour of need.  Asking the right questions, listening for vital details and recording information.

Being a Force Contact Centre Operator is certainly not your typical nine-to-five.  You will deal with emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls and digital platforms which include on-line crime reporting and live chat.   In return, we promise you a competitive starting salary, great learning environment and the pride that comes from helping the communities of Staffordshire.

What can we offer you?

  • Total Salary: £36,152 - £42,002 per annum/pro rota, which is inclusive of 20% shift allowance and 14.21% Weekend Working, this could equate to an additional £9,215 per annum. This shift allowance is subject to successful completion of the FCC Academy.

  • Shift patterns: following transition from the FCC Academy you will be allocated a shift. These shifts cover 24-hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year operation. This is a rotating shift pattern which includes evenings, nights, weekend and bank holidays.

Force Contact Centre Academy

The initial training course is 5 weeks classroom-based training.  You will receive a range of inputs which will facilitate your journey in becoming a Force Contact Professional.  You will have a 10-week, Academy based exposure to 999 emergency and 101 non-emergency calls.  Successful demonstration of competency in these areas will be required before moving onto shift.

Starting your career in our Force Contact Centre will provide you with a wide range of skills and experiences.  There are also opportunities for development, such as becoming a Tutor or Mentor, as well as additional training on certain topics enabling you to become a subject matter expert.

Additional Information

The deadline for submission of applications is Midday Thursday 3rd July 2025.

Should your application be progressed you will be required to attend an assessment, following successful completion of the assessment you will be required to attend an interview.  Please ensure you dress in office wear.

Assessments: Weekend of 12th and 13th July.

The assessment will take 1 to 2 hours.

Interviews: Weekend of 19th and 20th July.
