Job Title: Product Development Officer - NCPP - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ
Salary: The starting salary is £45,131, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £42,203 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £47,668. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

NaCTSO is a unit within CTPHQ (National Counter Terrorism Police Headquarters). NaCTSO works with government departments and key partners to protect the UK against terrorism. We do so by producing free guidance and awareness products for the public and business community.
Join a unit at the heart of keeping the country safe. As part of our small, specialist team, you’ll be developing, producing and evaluating national protective security awareness products. You will take a leadership role within the team, managing projects as you collate ideas, share advice and design awareness packages. You will also champion evidence-based practice. Due to the varied nature of our work, which requires interaction with many teams across NaCTSO, you will develop a unique set of skills and knowledge about numerous aspects of counter terrorism protective security.
This is a demanding role where excellent design, proofreading, communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to create stimulating digital graphics, all whilst meeting tight and conflicting deadlines. You will need to be creative, innovative and proactive. Familiarity with visual design methodologies and applications, and creating web-based products is highly desirable.
A protective security background is not required nor is experience creating training packages, but you will need to be expert at designing impactful content and articulating ideas clearly.

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will be required to do the following:
- Research, design, develop and maintain engaging and accessible CT protective security awareness products for the general public, businesses, and those approved by NaCTSO to deliver them. Utilise graphic design skills, icons and images to create engaging presentations or documents.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the products produced and suggest ideas for improving them.
- Identify opportunities to consider new, innovative products and assess their viability.
- Work closely with partners from central Government departments (including Homeland Security Group and NPSA) and industry to support the development, design and delivery of CT protective security advice into bespoke products.
- Work closely with NaCTSO teams to proofread and peer review public-facing guidance.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of NaCTSO`s guidance, role specific legislative procedures, national policy and tactical options to advise internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead projects, collating ideas and information to share with the team, setting deadlines and managing progress. Assist team members with their own projects.
- Keep up to date with UK research and good practice. Apply academic research and promote its use within NaCTSO programmes and business as usual.
- Support and maximise the delivery of advice via the public-facing ProtectUK platform and app (https://www.protectuk.police.uk/).
- Produce and deliver high quality presentations and engaging briefings to internal or external stakeholders. Represent NaCTSO at industry working groups and events.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by the line manager.
Additional Information
As part of the recruitment process, candidates who pass the initial sift will be invited to undertake an assessment.
The assessment centre takes circa 2 hours in total and candidates will undergo 4 tests whilst on the Teams call, to ensure that they do not have prior sight of the materials. Candidates will need access to their nominated email address as well as Word and PowerPoint software. - Proofreading test: a short passage of text to be reviewed for grammatical, spelling, punctuation and formatting errors by the candidate.
- Presentation test: a PowerPoint presentation on a topic not related to the job role to be reviewed and presented back by the candidate on the call. This task measures presentation skills and time management.
- Video design task: 1-2 short videos to be reviewed by the candidate ahead of the assessment call. Candidate to verbally share their thoughts on the style or design of each, consisting of at least one thing they would change and one thing they would keep, along with their rationale for their decisions.
- Presentation design test: a short PowerPoint deck which must be standardised and designed using resources provided to or sourced by the applicant. This task is completed off the Teams call and returned via email.
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
