An opening has emerged for a Public Protection Review Officer to join the LD Public Protection Team based at Stainbeck Police Station, Leeds District.

In this role you will undertake tasks in relation to the management of Registered Sex Offenders (RSO's) in the community which will include conducting assessments, registration, periodic monitoring and reviews in compliance with relevant legislation in order to ensure the effective management in the community.

To be considered for this role it is desirable that you come with experience in the management or investigation of sex/dangerous offenders and/or child safeguarding investigations, have a basic knowledge of sex offender’s legislation and ACPO Doctrine in respect of Managing Serious and Sex offenders.

You must have the ability to interview competently and with integrity and have a good working knowledge and ability to use a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office.

A significant part of the role will involve you visiting offenders in their home environment to conduct risk assessments and management plans, as well as liaising and sharing information with statutory and voluntary agencies providing advice and support as required. You will also be involved in the research and investigation of issues of third party disclosure/applications for Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPO’s) making recommendations for their use in specific cases.

You will represent the District at Multi Agency meetings providing information that will enable informed management plans to be agreed. Due to the nature of the work this is an emotionally challenging role and therefore it is essential you have resilience to deal with the emotional impact of extremely sensitive issues, such as child and adult sexual abuse.

To be considered for this challenging opportunity, you must be able to undertake and pass relevant training on West Yorkshire Police and National computerised databases as well as Nationally accredited courses in the Management of Sexual and Violent Offenders. In addition the role requires evening and weekend working and have the ability to travel and work throughout the Force.
