About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Staff to join our leadership team. In this critical role, you will report directly to the Chief Constable, supporting the strategic direction of the force. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong leadership abilities and a passion for public service.
What You Will Be Doing
- Be responsible for the leadership of the Chief Constable’s staff office; to enable the effective development, support and delivery of the functions and priorities of the Chief Constable.
- Ensuring effective engagement with the community, key partners and stakeholders.
- To act as the Chief of Staff for the wider COST and SOST teams, ensuring the effective coordination of both in support of the COG
- Represent the Chief Constable at meetings, providing guidance to others to support the continuous improvement of Wiltshire Police
- Support the Chief Constable in scrutinising Force performance, identifying risks and areas for improvement
- Ensuring the Chief Constable has lead officers in place to support effective partnership working including community partnerships and other key stakeholders.
- Assist the Chief Constable in their appropriate contribution to the national consideration of issues concerning policing and reducing crime eg NPCC requirements
- Awareness and anticipation of potential stakeholder / political response to Chief Constable’s decisions and actions
- Handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
About You and Your Experience
- Proven experience in a senior management or leadership role
- Strong understanding and appreciation of the national policing landscape
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong decision-making abilities and the capacity to provide sound advice in complex situations
- A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism, with the ability to handle sensitive issues in a discreet manner
