This is an exciting and challenging opportunity working as Business Manager within Opal at North Wales Police. 

OPAL are the National Intelligence Unit for Serious and Organised Acquisitive Crime, a relatively new team looking to reduce the impact of serious organised and acquisitive crime on our communities and to provide better coordination of activity and sharing of intelligence. We work with law enforcement agencies, partner agencies and industry providing a multi-agency approach to target and disrupt various and organised crime groups.

Role Purpose:

  • Dedicated senior management of the Service Area budget or other specific projects.
  • To provide an effective advisory and consultative service to the Service Area, and where applicable to external bodies for all Business Services functions.
  • Monitoring of business objectives and performance as related to available resources

What will I need to be considered for this role?

  • Postgraduate qualification in finance, business or related subject AND/OR relevant evidenced professional experience.
  • Experience of working in a managerial position which includes managing and developing a team.
  • Extensive budgetary, procurement and financial working knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of implementing policy, strategy and monitoring performance.
  • Ability to business plan and monitor performance against objectives.
  • Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organisation

Management Vetting is required for this post

North Wales Police are a bilingual organisation and for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate Level 2 Spoken Welsh skills, which means you’re able to give and ask for personal details and basic information; to make simple requests and say a few phrases about yourself in Welsh.
