Lancashire Constabulary’s Specialist Operations Division is seeking an Armourer to be based at Hutton Headquarters. This is an exciting opportunity to provide assistance to both the Armed Policing Support Team and the Firearms Operations Department in respect of the maintenance and repair of firearms, ammunition and ancillary equipment, including overseeing the range facilities and armoury, as well as stock management and replenishment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain all Force specialist weapons, firearms, ammunition and ancillary equipment in line with relevant guidelines and safety legislation
  • Undertake weapon rotation between the Operations and Training Departments
  • Manage the issue of weapons and ammunition for training events and operational deployments as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of firearms operations and produce statistical data as required.
  • Carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must hold a Police Range Safety Inspectors Certificate or willing to work towards and complete within 12 months.
  • Be willing to attend a specialist weapon and ammunition training by manufacturers of Police supplied weapons in excess of the basic Armourer’s qualification including experience of the taser device and storage of explosives as requested by department management.
  • Be competent in modules G1 and G2 of the National Firearms Training Curriculum or willing to work towards and complete within 12 months.
  • Experience of working in a Firearms/Range environment and a good working knowledge of firearms, ammunition and explosives, experience of handling firearms and associated equipment.

Vetting and Medical:

Successful applicants will be required to pass MV & SC vetting prior to commencing their role. You will also be subject to a medical assessment.
