Undercover Officer Online (UCOL) Constable - Transferees
Can you work well under pressure and demonstrate excellent investigation skills?
Join now as a transferee Undercover Officer Online (Constable) with the East Midlands Special Operations (EMSOU) Unit within covert unit!
An exciting role as an Undercover Officer is vital to the effective deployment of covert resources to tackle all areas of serious and organised criminality.
EMSOU is one of the largest collaborative policing units in the country, delivering specialist capabilities on behalf of the five East Midlands police forces & focuses on intelligence gathering and the disruption and investigation of serious and organised crime.
What you’ll be doing:
- You will be assimilating large amounts of information and undertake difficult, adverse duties, often in a time critical manner.
- You will be working in an environment where you will need to be creative and innovative to provide solutions to problems.
- As an undercover officer you will be deployed in the virtual world, engaging with others online and gathering evidence and intelligence in all areas of criminality.
The must haves:
- Must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding and working knowledge of the internet and IT systems.

- Must hold a valid and current driving licence and be prepared to travel to work within the East Midlands region.
In contrast to the usual time specific UCF secondments to EMSOU, this is a full-time role within EMSOU for a Police Constable willing to undertake training to be accredited as a UC-Online (UCOL) and Foundation Undercover Trained (UCF).
As Undercover Officers deploy in the real world and engage with people face to face, a UCOL is deployed in the virtual world and engages with others online, generally behind a device, to gather evidence and intelligence in all areas of criminality. Any interaction that starts online has the potential to lead to physical deployments if face to face meetings are required. Accreditation for this role is subject to successful completion of a College of Policing licensed training course (A5) and subsequent completion of the Undercover Foundation Course (UCF) if not already qualified to that level.
