Grade:  £28,641 - £29,499

 

About the Role: 

 

 Wiltshire Police are looking for a full time Indexer to be part of a team dedicated to a serious and complex crime investigation on a 12-month fixed term contract working from Calne Police Station.

 

The role will require preparation, research and maintenance of database records and documentation.  This will include the preparation of material for presentation at Court, Coroner’s Inquest or Public Inquiry and to carry out the Indexer role in accordance with the Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedure (MIRSAP). 

 

Further responsibilities include supporting the accurate recording of all relevant information relating to the investigation, using the Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES).  

 

Successful applicants may be required to engage with key stakeholders so must demonstrate proficiency in collaborative working.  You must be able to demonstrate excellent time management, meticulous attention to detail in relation to investigations, and in the production of documents and reports. 

 

In this role, your main responsibilities will be: 

 

  • Providing the Senior Investigating Officer with an accurate record of all relevant information relating to the investigation.
  • Keeping records that highlight people, vehicles, or other factors which have become subject to enquiry.
  • Process documentation received by the Case Manager and ensuring this is correctly entered on the HOLMES system in line with current procedures.
  • Undertaking actions as directed by the Senior Investigating Officer or Case Manager.
  • Updating manual and computer records where required for the purposes of the investigation.
  • Facilitating the production of comprehensive files and reports for legal consideration.

 

Skills, experience and qualifications required: 

 

  • Computer literate with experience of updating both manual and computer records.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and accuracy of work.
  • Demonstrative ability to maintain up to date and accurate records.
  • Experience of liaising with a range of departments, agencies, and organisations.
  • You must hold a full and current UK driving licence.
  • Experience of working on the HOLMES operating system is essential
  • Experience of working within a Major Crime environment is desirable.
