The Estates and Facilities team have an ambition to transform the Estate to be smaller, better, greener and are now looking for an Estates & Facilities Technical Support Officer to help in that delivery as part of the team.

We are seeking an Estates and Facilities Technical Support Officer to be part of the transformation of our Estate to meet future policing needs and continue our journey to deliver our Sustainability Strategy to achieve net zero by 2035.

What does the Estates & Facilities Technical Support Officer role involve?
Your role will be working within the Estates and Facilities team of 18 people. The role is key to ensuring the coordination and management of the day-to-day responsive repairs, maintenance and statutory compliance across the estate overseeing Site Officers and contractors and providing operational support by maintaining a safe and comfortable working environment. We have exciting new construction projects underway including a new Police Station for Cambridge which will continue the journey of transformation of the estate and the role will also need to balance this with the challenges of managing ageing buildings throughout Cambridgeshire. Every day is different, whatever your role in policing, so here’s an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities. The Estates & Facilities Technical Support Officer will:
- Act as main point of contact within Estate for reports of faults and repairs, prioritise works and ensure urgent and emergency works are followed through to a conclusion.
- Carry out regular reviews of the Estates Repairs Helpdesk to ensure that works sent to the helpdesk are allocated to the relevant site officer with the appropriate priority assessment.
- Develop and prepare trend reports to forecast demand and assist in budgeting..
- Highlight and challenge any areas of discrepancy with the Estates Budget and regularly liaise with the Team to reconcile budget positions, codes etc.
- Develop and prepare reports for compliance with Health and Safety requirements and other legislative standards.
- Provide guidance and technical advice to the site officer team as well as managerial and welfare
- To carry out regular site visits to all sites as appropriate to check on and ensure sign off of quality of works undertaken by both Site Officer team and Contractors
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of the building management systems (BMS) which cover all estates buildings force wide.
- Implementation of water hygiene testing and subsequent remedials/recommendations made by contractor subject to advice and guidance from Facilities Manager Building Services (M & E).
- Overseeing the obtaining, reviewing, and monitoring of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for external contractors and maintain Control of Contractors files on all sites in line with Force policy (including signing in procedure and issue of work permits etc).
