Intelligence Researcher
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Force Intelligence Function for an Intelligence Researcher working with the analytical team.The work of the intelligence function is central to our understanding of criminality and the force’s delivery of intelligence led policing. This is done through evaluating, prioritising, researching, developing and tasking intelligence to tackle offenders and address crime and incident problems, taking into account threat, risk, harm and vulnerability.
You will work alongside members of the analytical team and the wider intelligence departments as well as with officers, police staff and staff from external agencies. You will plan and conduct research from a wide variety of sources relating to crime, incidents, intelligence and other activities related to policing, with a focus on drugs related criminality.. You will present your research in the most appropriate format and support the preparation of intelligence, analytical and briefing products to inform the tasking and co-ordination, intelligence and/or investigative process.
The successful candidate will have experience of evaluating information to inform decision making. Experience of planning and undertaking research is also essential. The ability to produce written reports and verbal briefings to a high standard is required as is the ability to demonstrate initiative and problem solving skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of confidentiality with sensitive information and the ability to work as part of a team.
Experience working in an intelligence role with practical experience of the National Intelligence Model within law enforcement is desirable.
