An opportunity has become available for a full time Proactive Firearms and Explosive Licensing Enquiry Officer (PAFEO) within the collaborated Firearms and Explosives Licensing Department. This is a fixed site role and is not suitable for agile working. The the ability to travel to and work from Monks Wood, Cambridgeshire is essential.

The primary role of the Firearms and Explosives Licensing Unit is to grant firearms, shotgun and explosives certificates to applicants who have a valid reason for possessing them. The applicants are assessed to ensure they pose no threat risk or harm to public safety under the provision of the Firearms Act 1968.
The duties of the PAFEO team includes undertaking enquiries, interviews and associated administration regarding the granting, renewal or refusal of firearms, shotgun and/or explosives certificates. To do this we use a risk-based assessment approach, following the National Intelligence Model principles. Supervised and lead by the Intelligence Decision Maker within the unit, the PAFEO team will have a focus on providing improved intelligence functionality to the unit.
We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated and have the ability to work under their own initiative as part of a team. Intelligence development, investigation experience, interrogation of police information systems, interviewing and statement taking would be a distinct advantage.
This is a full time, office-based role, based at the Monks Wood site in Cambridgeshire, however there is a potential for visits and inspections of certificate holders, dealers and clubs, so the ability to travel to various locations across BCH utilising a pool car is essential.
