ERSOU- CTP - PC/DC Borders Policing Harwich

ERSOU is the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, that oversees and delivers a regional level response to Serious and Organised Crime, and Counter Terrorism Policing for the Forces in the Eastern Region. ERSOU is made up of both Officers and Police Staff from across the entire region and works closely with the 7 Forces and National Partners. The departments are unique, in that they are able to offer opportunities to work and develop individuals professionally in specialist areas, often delivering capabilities that are provided by local forces.

This role is in ERSOU CTP which is part of a national network dedicated to protecting the public from the threat of terrorism. The unit has officers covering all four areas of the Government’s CONTEST strategy – Protect, Prepare, Prevent, and Pursue.

THE ROLE

The position involves close liaison with port agencies and foreign law enforcement bodies and the monitoring of passenger movements. The primary objective of this role is the gathering of counter terrorism intelligence.
