Staff - Command and Control Room Operator

Full time 37 hours, permanent, based at HQ Penrith
We are currently recruiting Command and Control Room Operators to work as a multi-skilled police staff member.
As a Command and Control Room Operator, first under the Contact Management & Resolution function, you will be responsible for providing a professional, efficient and victim focused response to all contact received into the CCR whether via 999 or 101 telephone calls, or digital contact with the purpose of with the purpose of preventing, reducing, and detecting crime. You will be responsible for eliciting accurate information quickly to inform critical decision making to aid deployment or resolution by police resources. Through a structured training plan, once operationally competent and experienced, under the Dispatch function you would be responsible for receiving, deploying, co-ordinating and managing all emergency and non-emergency incidents in real time, providing a professional service as well as managing radio communications with front line officers, while updating live time information onto command-and-control systems. A Command and Control Operator will work in a multi-functional environment.
This role would be suited to someone who has good communication skills, a strong sense of public service, empathy, makes decisions whilst remaining calm under pressure, has the ability to multi-task and has excellent IT skills.

The role is based within the Cumbria Constabulary's Command and Control Room at Penrith Police Headquarters.
The Command and Control Room is a 24/7 department, the successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to work a shift patterns that includes weekend working, nights and bank holidays.
The recruitment process will involve a written application followed by invitation to an informative webinar to understand the role in full. Candidates who successfully pass the application stage will be invited to an assessment centre which will be scenario-based along with a short interview.
Successful candidates will be required to commence employment on the 22nd September 2025 to attend a Contact Management and Resolution training course.
