Job Title: Detective Constable Entry Programme - PIP2 Trainer

Salary: The starting salary is £42,926, which includes allowances totalling £6,928.

The salary is broken down as £35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000 and a Market Rate Adjustment (MRA) allowance of £4,000 p/a.

(MRA is paid for roles which are deemed hard to fill by means of the qualification required. Therefore, PIP2 accreditation and CPD must be maintained throughout employment in this role for MRA to be applicable.)

The Crime Academy, within Learning & Development, is looking to expand its team to train Detectives who join the Met as part of the Detective Constable Entry Programme (DCEP).

Delivery of this programme will begin in June 2025.

As a member of the DCEP delivery team, you will play a vital role in providing direct entry pathway Detectives with the training and skills development necessary for their role. Your role will directly empower your trainees to serve the communities of London as developing Detectives.

You will be responsible for delivering masterclasses that will train Detectives to undertake the Investigation of Serious and Complex Crime in accordance with The College of Policing, Professionalising Investigations Programme, Level 2 (PIP 2).

You will teach a range of subjects as part of the National PIP2 curriculum.  

Eligibility:

Police Staff who meet the attendance management criteria and are free from current misconduct proceedings.

Location and working hours:

Our courses are delivered predominantly in person, in a classroom environment at Peel Centre, Hendon or Marlowe House, Sidcup. Flexibility is needed to train across both sites where needed. Trainers will work a roster of 7am-3pm on weekdays.

Working time Information:

This will be a full time role in Learning and Development delivery services. Blended working opportunities may be available according to business need. This is classed as an Operational Role in line with the Hybrid Working Policy. 

L&D supports flexible working. This is reviewed on a case by case basis according to business needs. Part time working opportunities may become available in future.
