The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesFrom your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this varied and responsible role you will be supporting investigations by ensuring all the custody facilities remain in an operational state, stocks are maintained and that any visual/audio recordings are produced in evidence as required by investigating officers and/or the leadership team.
Surrey Police pride ourselves in the level of Detainee care provided for all persons held in custody, your oversight of the facilities required to achieve this are at the very heart of this mission.
Although based at Salfords, Staines or Guildford it is essential that you have the means and ability to travel as there will be cover required at a second location and occasions when you will need to cover at any of the sites (including the Woking training suite), sometimes at short notice. On any occasion when this is necessary you will be paid the force rate mileage to cover your costs.
You will frequently be dealing with enquiries from partner agencies, suppliers, solicitors and officers of varying ranks which will require good communication skills and the ability to prioritise. You will also need a good working knowledge of computer use (predominately Microsoft Office) and be able to learn how to competently use and monitor the comprehensive CCTV and audio-visual access systems.
Skills & ExperienceFirst and foremost you will be a good communicator and team player. Working in a close knit team under the supervision of the Support Sergeant and Inspector, you will have dealings with persons from all walks of life. Being firm but fair, compassionate and having a sense of humour are all qualities which are vital to this role as well as being a problem solver and self-starter.

- GCSE C and above in Maths/Level 2 equivalent
- GCSE C and above in English/Level 2 equivalent

Further InformationDue to the sensitivity involved within the role a high level of integrity will be needed, therefore successful applicants will be subject to security vetting.
You will be permanently based at one of the three custody suites (Staines, Guildford or Salfords), however, at times you will be required to travel to any of the custody suites in order to cover staff shortages. It is therefore essential that you hold a current and valid driving licence and have access to a personal vehicle. If successful you will be required to work at different locations across the force and will need to be prepared to travel to these various locations for which travelling expenses will be paid.
