Applications are now open for the Sergeants Promotion Process.
The promotion process is now open and closes Sunday 18th May 2025 23:55 .
Please note that to apply for promotion you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Have been confirmed in the rank of substantive Constable and are serve with a Home Office force.
- Have passed National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) Step 1 & 2 or OSPRE Part I or II
- Are not subject to any sanctions or actions in relation to the Unsatisfactory Performance and/ or Attendance Procedure (UPP)
- Are not subject to any live PSD investigations and/ or all levels of formal sanction or action as a result of an investigation or complaint.
- Are not subject to any live complaints or misconduct proceedings.
- Have demonstrated readiness for promotion, as evidenced in their Performance Conversation
- Have been working to promotion over the past 12 months.
- Are operationally competent and ready for promotion to the rank of Sergeant and are performing at Level 2 of the CVF
- Comply with Cheshire Constabulary’s force criteria for sickness – this is 9 days absence or less within a rolling 12-month period
If you are successful through this promotion process, the post that you are promoted to will be confirmed through an assessment of your current skills, experience, and training.
This is a challenging and rigorous process, to be successful you must prove that you can make a significant contribution to Cheshire Constabulary as a Sergeant and to achieve our strategic vision of making Cheshire even safer. The successful candidates will need to be highly motivated with a proven ability to develop and lead high performing teams.
The application for the Sergeants Promotion Process for requires you to fill out the online application form, which will consist of four competency-based statements evidenced at Level 2 of the CVF.
