The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesThe Role
The Strategic Insights Team is seeking an experienced analyst to join our innovative efforts in understanding policing demand and deriving insights from the force’s data. Our data is complex, and our team’s role is to make sense of the complexity, providing deep insights that help strategic leaders make informed decisions. Our team has effected substantial change through our analysis and problem-solving and we are looking to expand our capabilities to continue improving the policing service in Sussex.
We are looking for someone who is data literate, has proven analytical experience, and is passionate about improving policing through data insight. The force is ambitious in its plans to make better use of the fast-growing technologies available to assist in deep analysis and we are looking for someone who can join us on this journey. The ability to think independently, challenge constructively, and produce high-quality work is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demand Analysis: Understand and analyse the myriad types of demand across Sussex to support decision-making and ensure efficient service delivery
- Insight Generation: Provide insights to drive strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
- Collaboration: Work alongside Senior Demand and Innovation Analysts and support day-to-day demand reporting and business planning for the Head of Corporate Development and Chief Officers
- Presentation: Present findings and insights to senior management and key stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner
- Continuous Improvement: Routinely seek out new data sources and analytical techniques to enhance our understanding of demand
Skills & Experience:
- Analytical Expertise: Substantial experience in research, interpretation, and analysis of complex information
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and maintain relationships within the organisation and with external partners
- Communication: High level of oral communication skills, including the ability to present to managers, key stakeholders, and senior leaders
- Technical Proficiency: Well-developed computer skills, including the ability to design and develop recording and analysis frameworks using tools like Power BI, Excel, etc.
- Written Communication: Ability to produce high-standard written communication appropriate for the purpose and audience
- Record Keeping: Experience in using and maintaining record-keeping systems and assumptions tracking
- Problem Solving: Sound decision-making, lateral thinking and analytical skills with a proven desire to provide innovative solutions
- Self-Management: Ability to work without direct supervision and demonstrate a high level of self-management, motivation, drive, and determination
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan and manage your own workload
