One Full-Time Permanent Post (37 hours)
Salary - Scale 6 - £32,247.00 - £34,329.00 Per Annum/Pro Rata
West Yorkshire Police would welcome applications for the permanent post of Evidence Manager, to ensure that the functions of the department are professionally, effectively and efficiently maintained in accordance with agreed practice and processes.
The role of Evidence Manager is a critical function to support our operational colleagues to secure successful outcomes to their investigations.
Our ideal candidate will proactively manage the performance, attendance and wellbeing of police officers and police staff against the required standards to ensure they are dealt with and supported in accordance with the correct policies and procedures. They will provide leadership, supervision and monitor the department ensuring staff are able to perform efficiently and effectively.
They will manage, evaluate and prioritise resources, maintaining the integrity chain throughout the handling, storage, retention and disposal of all evidential/property items in line with Force Policy and Procedures, including all critical items, drugs, firearms, cash, data and highly sensitive/confidential exhibits for Court cases. Dealing with unplanned critical reactive tasks.

Essential Criteria - What will you need?
Good knowledge and awareness of relevant legislation e.g Health and Safety.
Demonstrate the ability to manage a team and proven experience within a clerical or administrative environment.
Basic knowledge of and able to use computer packages such as Microsoft Office.
Can demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills.
Good standard of written and oral communication skills.
Ability to pass relevant courses for the role: Niche, manual handling & ladder training.
Can demonstrate good organisational skills incorporating attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of safety and security procedures in relation to specific items e.g. cash and forensic samples.
Physically able to handle bulky items.
Resilience to work in a challenging warehouse environment. ie smells, lack of natural light.
Prepared to wear uniform and PPE.
Ability and willingness to travel and work throughout the Force area.
Full UK/European Driving Licence, with the ability to drive police vehicles to transport property.
Due to the nature of the role, must provide biometric samples (Fingerprints and DNA) as required to ensure ongoing inclusion on the relevant elimination databases for policing purposes.
