We are welcoming applications for the role of MS OIC Development Specialist with Devon & Cornwall Police based at the following location(s): Exmouth (Devon) 

Salary: Grade 7 - Starts at £36,630 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £40,893 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

Type of employment: Fixed Term, Internal Secondment 

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker -  Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.

End date of temporary role: 31/03/2026

If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract.

Please note that internal applicants applying for an internal or external secondment should seek support from their current line manager for their temporary release from their substantive role before applying. External secondment requests will need to be supported by the Force Executive. At the end of the secondment the successful applicant(s) would return to their substantive role. However, if in the meantime the releasing department is subject to review, the successful applicant(s) would be included in that review as if still in post.

Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.
About the role:  

This is a national role, responsible for delivering priorities set by the NPCC and the Home office for the benefit of front-line policing. The areas of development have been identified as Safeguarding, Policy, Operational Activity, Ports and Borders and Training. Working closely with both statutory agencies and NGO’s you will identify and support improvements in the way in which police forces across England & Wales work in partnership to tackle Organised Immigration Crime (OIC) and Modern Slavery (MS). It is part of a team that will exist until March 2021 to build knowledge and to improve the quality and consistency of the UKs policing response. As stated, this is a national role and extensive travel across the UK is required. In particular; 

  • Developing and supporting operational activity across the UK to meet the nature of the current threat;
  • Working with both statutory agencies and NGO’s to improve our intelligence picture and disrupt Organised Crime Groups across the UK;
  • Working with the Home Office and NCA to improve the NRM, Prosecutions and PND in relation to OIC and MS;
  • Providing specialist support to statutory agencies and NGO’s who are supporting child and vulnerable victims;
  • Developing Workshops and briefings across the UK for front line officers and senior leaders;

Selection Stage:

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the behaviours outlined within the role profile. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 7 May 2025.

Pre-requisites:
