We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IS Services Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of our information systems (IS) services, ensuring seamless operations and optimal performance. You will lead a team of IT professionals, manage budgets, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver effective IT Solutions.

Job Purpose:
To ensure that all Force IT systems operate 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, to implement any changes to Force IT systems in a controlled manner and to provide help and guidance to all users of the Force’s IT systems.
You will lead within a highly structured, ITIL-aligned environment, managing relationships with stakeholders and third-party partners across the full service lifecycle. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a mature, high-performing IT function .
Knowledge & Experience:
Qualifications
The post holder will be educated to degree level or have considerable practical experience in a similar role. Formal qualification and experience in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is essential.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive expertise and extensive experience in IT service management. Proficiency in supporting large-scale IT infrastructures across multiple internal and external customers.
Skills and Abilities
What we’re looking for:
Significant experience (7+ years) in IT Service Management roles, including 3+ years in leadership or managerial positions.
Strong background in ITIL practices — particularly Service Design, Transition, Change, and Release Management.
Hands-on experience with enterprise ITSM tools
Proven ability to manage services and lead multi-discipline teams in complex, matrixed environments.
Confident stakeholder manager, capable of influencing at both operational and senior levels.
The post holder must have the detailed technical and analytical skills to hold in mind the current, complex technology and infrastructure to ensure the continuous availability of services to Force operations.
Sound and sensitive management skills and awareness of user experience and satisfaction is essential in providing user support across a large and varied technology infrastructure, so that all users of the force’s systems are provided with a prompt, effective and resolute support service.
Very strong inter-personal and negotiating skills will be required to maintain a high-profile role with operational police staff at all levels particularly concerning the availability of system resources and access; to co-ordinate with ICT Department peers concerning the integration of systems, applications and networks, and to deal with suppliers of systems and support services to minimise operational costs and maintain high levels of response.
Good project management and decision-making skills are needed in order to oversee operational and/or support activities, and to take action when operations or projects do not go to plan.
The post-holder must have the ability to stay abreast of developments in technology and how the implementation of new products or services could improve system performance or cut costs.
Confidence to Lead the full lifecycle of IT services, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and alignment with business needs.
Manage the Change and Release Management processes, including facilitation of Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.
Operational and organisational strategic business continuity management experience (systems, processes, procedures, resources)
Understanding of datacentre operations including access management, power resilience (UPS and generators) and environmental management
Ability to oversee the service portfolio to ensure accuracy, strategic alignment, and business value.
Coordinate and support service transitions, working across technical and non-technical teams.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service quality, compliance, and performance.
