Hours: 40 hours

 

Are you passionate about driving and ready to share your skills with others? North Yorkshire Police is seeking a skilled Driver Trainer to help shape the driving abilities of our officers, support staff, and Special Constables.

In this role, you’ll be more than just a trainer—you’ll be a mentor, helping our team master critical driving techniques that keep our roads safe and our officers prepared for any situation.

Please note, this role is open to standard drivers.

What You'll Do:

As a Driver Trainer, you’ll lead by example, delivering hands-on training in everything from advanced vehicle handling and operational response driving to manoeuvring large vehicles like personnel carriers and prison vans. Your expertise will guide your students as they progress through a structured training program that hones their skills and boosts their confidence.

You’ll assess their capabilities, provide ongoing feedback, and make crucial decisions on whether they are ready to handle the demands of driving police vehicles safely.

But this role isn’t just about practical driving skills. You’ll also be delivering classroom sessions on key driving topics and ensuring all training materials meet the latest standards. Whether it's fine-tuning existing programs or developing new ones, your contribution will help North Yorkshire Police maintain the highest driving standards.

Essential Requirements:

Applicants are required to have successfully completed their probation by the closing date to be eligible to apply and must have the support of their Line Manager before an application can be made.

Applicants must possess or be willing to work towards a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent.
