Salary: Band 7, £31,548 - £34,329  

Location: Northumbria Uni, Coach Lane Campus, Newcastle Upon Tyne 

Hours/Contract: 37 hour per week, permanent

The role

If so, an exceptional opportunity has arisen within our Initial Training Team who provide training for all operational entry routes into Northumbria Police.

We are looking for a dedicated individual with the rights skills & experience to work as part of our training team at Coach Lane Campus in conjunction with our partners from Northumbria University, to deliver first class training to our new recruits, preparing them for their future roles as operational police officers in providing an outstanding service to the public.  

What you’ll do

  • Coordinate and deliver entry-level training programmes for new recruits including Police Community Support Officers & Special Constables, embedding the core ethics & values.
  • Lead initial and advanced Special Constable training, including some evening and weekend working when required.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate innovative training solutions across departments.
  • Maintain high standards through collaboration with Northumbria University and police stakeholders, staying aligned with national standards and force policy.

What you’ll bring 

  • Level 4 qualification in teaching or learning and development (or equivalent).
  • Proven training delivery experience within a learning and development setting.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), Police Officer & Special Constable role• Experience of managing your own workload and being self-driven in a task orientated situation.
  • The ability to think critically & adopt a problem-solving approach to your work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective working relationships with other stakeholders & team members.
  • An ability to support your peers, achieve targets and make a positive contribution in a team environment.

Terms of appointment  

This is a permanent role subject to a six-month probationary period.
