- S25-086 Complaints & Hearing Manager (LC10)
This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the Professional Standards Department Senior Management Team as the Complaints and Hearings Manager.
Please note this role is temporary for 6 months from appointment, subject to review.
In this role you will be responsible for the management of the force complaints process ,ensuring compliance with all force and legislative requirements. You will also manage misconduct meetings and hearings for police officers and police staff in accordance with the Police Regulations and Police Staff Misconduct Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- To be solely responsible for the force in the receipt and initial assessment of complaints and for making recording decisions in line with the relevant legislation requirements and statutory procedures.
- To be solely responsible for the overarching communication strategy for the complaints process. To ensure effective lines of communication both in writing, verbally and in person are given to members of the public/complainants in line with Police Regulations.
- To be solely responsible for the force for the determination of the most appropriate handling of a complaint following the initial recording and assessment decisions. To include relevant research, the setting of terms of reference and ongoing liaison with appointed investigation officers.
- Act as the expert advisor on issues relating to complaint management and misconduct hearings and processes.

Skills and Experience:
- A management qualification or willingness to work towards is desirable
- In depth knowledge of relevant Police Complaint and Conduct Legislation and Police Staff Misconduct Procedures.
Vetting and Medical:
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting prior to commencing their role. You will also be subject to a medical assessment.
Please be aware there is a minimum 5 year UK residency required for Management Vetting.
