Building Surveyor - Police Staff

Main Purpose of Role

To provide professional building surveying and building project design services (capital and maintenance) to ensure buildings meet operational requirements.

 

To ensure that the Force estate is well maintained through implementation of planned maintenance programmes and effective response to reactive maintenance requirements and thereby meets operational requirements.

 

Key Skills & Experience Required

To design and manage small to medium sized building projects, preparing drawings, specifications and schedules, overseeing tenders, managing contractors and ensuring satisfactory project completion and compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM), Health & Safety and Force Financial Regulations and Standing Orders.

 

To undertake small project feasibility studies and provide budget costs.

 

To manage large construction projects from inception, appointment of external design teams, feasibility, site acquisition, design, construction and commissioning to ensure that new buildings are suitable and appropriate and delivered on time and within budget.

 

To undertake Condition Surveys and ensuring that CAD plans of the Force’s premises are updated and maintained. Implement a programme of improvements to the premises based on 5 year planned maintenance programme of work.

 

Other Information

The post is based at Police & Fire Headquarters, which is a central location on the A60 between Nottingham and Mansfield. The site includes free car parking, an on-site canteen, and for members of sports and social club there is access to a gym.

For current Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner staff applicants, please note that Nottinghamshire Police would be a new employer. However, an agreement has been made whereby all tenure and length of service will be honoured.
