FSU Submissions Officer
The East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit (EMSOU) is seeking to recruit into the role of FSU Submissions Officer to provide high-quality case management and proactive service to the customers by providing the gateway to all in-house and external forensic services (including EMSOU digital). This includes all crime types from criminal damage to major crime and cold cases and requires a sound forensic knowledge of all forensic opportunities to solves these crimes.
You will work to ensure that the prime objectives, service standards as well as regulated forensic standards are enforced by performing and maintaining an effective & efficient exhibit handling, management and storage of all submitted & returned forensic exhibits in a timely manner and communication is provided to all internal and external stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
- You'll ensure exhibits are correctly stored in conditions that meet specific exhibit requirements to prevent degradation.
- Provide witness statements describing actions and being accountable for actions, & give testimony at Coronial, Crown or Magistrate courts and other tribunals, often under hostile cross-examination.
- Ensure the timely processing of submitted and returned exhibits, including cash, illegal and illicit drugs, chemicals, firearms and Road Toxicology, in accordance to agreed priorities and the demands of the CJ system including the Crown Prosecution Service.
The must haves:
- A degree in Forensic Science or policing equivalent, and/or be able to demonstrate 2 years of experience.
- A practical working knowledge and experience of Health & Safety within the workplace including adherence to C.O.S.H.H and risk assessments.
- A full valid UK driving licence.
Please be aware that due to the security checks required for this role you must have 5 years continuous residency in the UK.
Salary: £25,626 - £40,893
For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
