Drugs Laboratory Officer
The East Midlands Specialist Operations Unit (EMSOU) is seeking to recruit into the role of Drugs Laboratory Officer to process lead in delivering the perseveration, identification, interpretation, examination and reporting analysis of illicit Drugs examinations.
You will work within the EMSOU-FS FAS Drugs Laboratory, providing specialist advice and knowledge regarding the FAS Drugs Laboratory’s processes and procedures and drugs casework to peers, management and regional service users within the remit of the role.
What you’ll be doing:
- Examining and analysing a range of illicit drug samples from volume, serious, major and EMSOU SOC Level 2 crime using ISO 17025 accredited analytical techniques and Specialist instrumentation whilst maintaining the integrity and continuity of recovered items.
- Supporting the FAS Drugs Reporting Scientists in the routine reporting of Streamlined Forensic Reports (SFR-1/SFR-2) and Witness Statements (MG11) for the 5 East Midlands Region Police Forces.
The must haves:
- Must hold a science-based qualification Degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry or pharmacology or have experience of working within an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environment.
- Ability to work on own initiative and make decisions based upon policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate strong level of I.T skills inclusive of experience using Microsoft packages.
Please be aware that due to the security checks required for this role you must have 5 years continuous residency in the UK.
Salary: £30,468 - £40,893
For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
