The Strategic Insights Team is looking for an analyst to join the team and build on our innovative work in understanding demand and deriving insights from the force’s data.
We are looking for a talented analyst with experience of interpreting police data who wants to move into a high-profile role that will have a significant impact on the future direction of the force. You do not need a specific technical skillset, but you will need to be data literate, have proven analytical experience and be passionate about improving policing through data insight.
The ability to think for yourself and be constructively challenging are vital, as is the ability to produce written work of the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Understanding demand is key for Sussex Police to support decision-making and ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
The post holder will be the expert on demand across Sussex, responsible for providing insight to help support and drive strategic decision making and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
You will work alongside the Senior Demand and Innovation Analysts and be responsible for the day-to-day demand reporting and business planning for Chief Officers on behalf of the Head of Corporate Development (CDD).
Skills & Experience- Substantial experience in research, interpretation and analysis of complex management and performance information with the ability to analyse large quantities of data by the application of accepted statistical techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to influence, establish and maintain continuing and satisfactory relationships both within the organisation and with external partners and national bodies.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of oral communication skills, including the ability to contribute or present to key stakeholders, senior leaders and strategic level Boards.
- Well-developed computer skills including the ability to design and develop recording and analysis frameworks by use of relational database and spreadsheet facilities, or appropriate business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Excel etc.
- Able to produce a high standard of written communication appropriate for the purpose and audience
- Experience of using and maintaining record keeping systems and assumptions tracking
- Sound decision making, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively and proven desire to provide solutions
- Ability to work without direct supervision and demonstrate a high level of self-management, motivation, drive and determination
- Strong organisational skills, including an ability to plan and manage your own workload with minimal supervision.
