Trainee Detective Staff Investigator - Police Staff

Are you looking for a new challenge and see yourself as a detailed investigator ready to solve complex criminal cases and bring suspects to justice?

 

Nottinghamshire police are looking for enthusiastic staff to join our Criminal Investigation department (CID) as a qualified PIP2 or trainee PIP2 staff investigator. As part of the role you will investigate a range of offences including sudden death, attempt murder, organised crime, stabbings, burglary, robbery, blackmail in addition to other complex crime. Every day will be different, interesting and fast paced.

 

In this role you will as participate in interviewing victims, suspects and witnesses to a high standard.  You will investigate thoroughly to solve crime and provide an exceptional service to victims, the community and families. You will prepare and complete files in accordance with court deadlines, legislation, and force policy, ensuring that crimes under investigation are compliant with Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA) and the Victims Charter. You will also work with the crown prosecution service and attend court to present evidence.   

Key Skills & Experience Required

To apply you must be signed off PIP1 investigations and provide this on application.

 

As a commitment to your development, if required you will be attending a PIP2 course and then be tutored on the job. You will then be required to complete the PIP2 portfolio and pass the National Investigators Exam within 2 years of starting the role to be successful.

This job is based on working a shift pattern

  • Have an investigative mindset to identify opportunities, be driven to find the answers and key lines of enquiry
  • Engage with the community to build trust in policing
  • Be an effective communicator who is experienced in dealing with a wide range of people and with effective interpersonal skills to ensure professional relationships are built and maintained and barriers to engagement are overcome.
  • Be able to collaborate with other departments and organisations in a professional way 

For current Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner staff applicants, please note that Nottinghamshire Police would be a new employer. However, an agreement has been made whereby all tenure and length of service will be honoured.
