Job Title: Security & Assurance Administrator - Compliance & Assurance - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

Salary: The starting salary is £45,131, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £42,203 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £47,668.  Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary

You will be working within the Security Operations Centre (SOC) under the Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (CTPHQ) Compliance and Assurance (C&A) Pillar and will oversee a number of security, governance and assurance functions on behalf of CT Policing (CTP) across the UK. This will include implementing CTPs overall security strategy and act as the central point of collaboration in coordinated efforts to monitor, assess, and defend against cyber-attacks and protect CTP assets.

CTPHQ is the corporate centre for CTP and provides operational and support services to the CTP Network at a national level with the CTP SOC consisting of the below teams;

  • Information Security
  • Personnel Security
  • Physical Security
  • Protective Monitoring
  • Security Awareness, Coordination & Engagement
  • Security Compliance & Governance
  • Security Incident, Threat & Vulnerability

The CTP SOC teams are currently expanding, so are looking for innovative and highly motivated people with the ability to work independently as well as within a growing team, to help deliver key security objectives.

Whilst you will specialise in a specific area, a broad knowledge of security and risk is desirable to gain a more rounded understanding of the assurance functions and their inter-dependencies. This may involve the opportunity to move posts in other areas within the CTP SOC.

You will be responsible for providing Assurance for counter terrorism governance bodies that policies and procedures are adhered to. You will support regions across the CTP Network to establish local mechanisms to continually monitor and maintain compliance. This will involve IT related monitoring and audits, and the ability to collate, interpret and evaluate information to produce detailed reports in a clear format. You will produce high level reports for senior management on security and assurance activity and findings and provide recommendations for areas which require development.

The role may involve national travel facilitating independent inspections and audits across the CTP Network to support security compliance with policies, processes and procedures. You will support continual improvement including promoting best practice.

You will provide advice on managing security and information risk, consistent with CTP and UK Government Information Assurance policy. Through participating in local and national workshops/forums, you will represent the necessary security and assurance functions. Engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders to promote security compliance and consistency will be crucial.

Key Tasks

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • Monitoring mailboxes and managing enquiries while providing excellent professional services
  • Support and ongoing maintenance of accreditation
  • Executing and monitoring the pre-defined scripts configured within the Protective Monitoring system
  • Escalating any security alerts that occur, following the agreed security processes and procedures
  • Carrying out daily, weekly and monthly compliance & assurance checks
  • Compilation of events to provide regular daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports
  • Managing key records to assure all details are up to date and accurate
  • Assisting the assurance plan development process through risk identification and mitigation activities
  • Receipt and tracking of security incidents
  • Assisting with the development and improvement of policies and processes, including the continual review and improvement of C&A functionality
  • Coordination of key meetings and providing minute taking if required
  • Providing communications and messaging to relevant stakeholders to inform of any key information
  • Assisting with any support for projects and initiatives.

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post. 

This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV)] clearance. 

As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.  Applications from candidates with close connections to certain countries may take considerably longer to process, or in some cases result in a withdrawal of an offer of employment.
