- S25-034 Assistant Accountant (LC6)
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, assisting in the management of budgets and ensuring financial compliance across the Constabulary.
A typical day is never the same, it can range from reconciliations, grant returns, cash flows forecasts, banking transactions, preparation of VAT returns, taking payments from customers, to dealing with officer/staff enquiries in relation to force policies and procedures.
The post has a vast range of tasks associated with it and it is critical you can make informed decisions in order to provide the best service to our officers and staff. And comply with policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
To assist the accountant in providing the Treasury Management Service for the PCC including the daily monitoring of cashflow activities and the forecasting of future cashflows.
To assist the accountant in providing the Accounts Receivable function including ensuring that the reconciliation of all bank balances is in line with agreed procedures and principles.
To assist the accountant in the timely submission of statutory returns such as Whole of Government Accounts and VAT.
To assist the accountant in the preparation of the Statement of Accounts on behalf of the PCC and the Chief Constable.

Skills and Experience:
- AAT Technician (NVQ Level 3) or equivalent experience
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Vetting and Medical:
Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting prior to commencing their role. You will also be subject to a medical assessment.
