Salary: Scale E/BAR/F - Starts at £29,109 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £38,754 per annum
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon & Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same Scale.

A Police Staff Investigator will act as case officer for a variety of lower level offences which include but not exclusively criminal damage, theft and assaults. The expectation will be to carry out investigations professionally, ethically, thoroughly and expeditiously in accordance with investigation policy, Professional Investigation Programme (PIP) standards and legal requirements.
The duties include preparing and conducting interviews of suspects, submission of quality case files for court and ensuring relevant safeguarding measures are undertaken including appropriate risk and impact assessments for the victim and where appropriate the wider community.
Please note: The successful candidate will work a shift pattern working days, lates and weekends. Shift pattern and allowances will be confirmed if selected for an interview, where a pattern requires you to work weekends there is also an enhancement to your allowances.

KEY RECRUITMENT INFORMATION AND DATES:
INTERVIEW: Interviews will be undertaken within the week commencing 17th May 2025. If you are unable to attend any dates within this time please let the recruitment team know when submitting your application. The selection stage will consist of a structured interview.
FITNESS TEST: As part of the recruitment process, candidates are required to undertake and pass the Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT). The JRFT is a critical component of the recruitment and appointment of Police Staff Investigators. The core rational for the test is to ensure that prospective employees have a minimum level of fitness to be able to undertake Personal Safety Training. The fitness test is benchmarked against the aerobic demands of Personal Safety Training (PST) and comprises of an aerobic shuttle run test (15m Multistage Fitness Test – 15m MSFT at level 5:4). Candidates will be advised of the fitness test date later but will be given sufficient notice.
PERSONAL SAFETY TRAINING (PST): All post holders are required to complete Tier 4 Personal Safety Training (PST) and appropriate refresher training as determined by the Learning and Development department.
TRAINING
All successful candidates will need to complete the PSI training course based at Winfrith, Police Headquarters which starts on 1st September 2025 for 10 weeks. Individuals will need to be full time for this training and no holiday will be granted during this time.

Selection Stage:
The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview, Fitness Test.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the essential criteria outlined within the job description. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 17 May 2025.

Pre-requisites:
