The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Local Policing Service Improvemnt and Engagement Department to join the Crime Management Unit and support the work of the CRIA function within the unit .
The role of the CRIA is to assess the quality of data and compliance of investigations with the Home Office Counting Rules, National Crime Recording Standards, National Standard for incident recording and other relevant legislation. CRIA staff review and validate crimes and crime related occurrences created by officers and staff from across all areas of the Force.
You will ensure that the record has been dealt with correctly under the National Crime Recording Standards in a timely manner, recording additional crime occurrences where required and liaising with officers and staff via feedback to ensure compliance and data quality which will include the reclassifcation and cancellation of recorded crimes. You may also be required to assist the supervision team in other aspects of crime recording including the review and recording of crime transfer requests from other Forces across the country.
The successful candidates will need to be comfortable making their own decision in the first instance and may be required to carry out the role without supervision present. The successful candidates will be trained to undertake all aspects of the role and full in house training will be given. The successful candidates will be required to work in one of three CRIA teams made up of both police officers and police staff and once training has been completed can take advantage of any flexible working schemes in the department.
The successful candidate would ideally have the following skills;
• Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office
• Excellent organisation and communication skills
• The ability to work in a busy environment unsupervised and be able to prioritise work effectively
• The following skills are desirable but training will be given;
• Experience of STORM and NICHE systems and the ability to update the NICHE and STORM systems as required
• A strong knowledge of the Home Office Counting Rules and the National Crime Recording Standards.
