The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesFrom your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Crime Coordinators work within the East Sussex Neighbourhood Policing Teams and are subject matter experts.
As an Anti-Social Behaviour and Hate Crime Coordinator you will coordinate and ensure the appropriate police recording and actions are taken in relation to ASB and hate crime by researching force systems to identify repeat victims, locations and suspects. You will review Hate Crime and Hate and ASB Risk Assessments (HARAs) submitted by our teams and identify cases that require a multi-agency problem solving approach and safeguarding to reduce harm to victims.
You will work collaboratively with partner organisations, voluntary and community sectors and Statutory Authorities to evaluate, review and audit the districts response to ASB and Hate to ensure compliance with Sussex Police Policy.
You will build relationships with individuals, partnership and communities to increase trust and confidence and raise awareness on civil powers, legislation and information sharing. You will attend multi-agency meetings and internal ASB and Hate Meetings providing guidance and case summaries.
You will play an integral role in protecting vulnerable people affected by ASB and Hate and preventing further harm through utilising a multi-agency approach.
This role is a job share. There are currently two co-ordinators on East Sussex, both of whom will remain. However, one post holder is reducing hours so this post is to fill the two days a week that will become vacant.
Skills & Experience- Experience of working collaboratively with voluntary, statutory, social or community organisations such as housing, council, Social Care.
- Proven ability to influence and persuade agencies in their support to help resolve problems
- Experience of dealing directly with members of the public and providing a high level of customer service
- Able to demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and present information to a wider audience
- Ability to work without direct supervision and demonstrate a high level of self management, motivation, drive and determination
- Ability to analyse and review information, identifying trends and risks
- IT literate and ability to learn new systems
- Able to demonstrate a respect for the opinions, circumstances and feelings of others
- Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection/Freedom of Information issues
- Respect for race and diversity
- Knowledge of relevant ASB and Hate Crime, Equality and Diversity and other legislation, statutory regulations and Government guidance and standards relevant to the impact of ASB and Hate Crime on communities would be desirable
